Dear Moderator, My name is Jaxon. Welcome to my A Level Media Studies blog. This is a record of the work I have undertaken for the Making Media Non-examination Assessment (NEA) within the OCR H409 GCE A Level course in Media Studies. I worked independently on Brief 3: Magazine and Online to produce the front covers and contents pages for the first two editions of a film magazine called OffTheReels together with the magazine's accompanying website. Research and Planning Further down in my blog you will find evidence of my research and planning for this task. Magazine first edition cover and contents page Magazine second edition and contents page Magazine Website The link to my website, which was created using Wix, can be found at the link below. The magazine consists of a homepage and a single linked page. This page can be accessed by clicking on 'Only Online'. https://sturgeo83.wixsite.com/offthereels-2

NEA Task 21 (Planning) : Photography Planning

For the Photography element of the magazine as a minimum it is required that I would need 4 photos for the magazine's front cover and contents pages as well as two images for the website's home page and the linked page, all of these photos are also required to be original photos. First of all for the websites home page, I am planning to keep within the theme of the magazines title and the play on the titles name of  'Off the Reels'. There will be no models for this shot for the home page and it will ideally feature rails of a train track from the local area at a low lighting setting to give more effect on the image. The camera would be facing up the track away from the camera with a clear sky in the background where the title of the homepage would be in the skyline of the website's home page, the mise en scene would be mainly feature the track and the natural and built environment around it to give the essence of realism around the photography. The photos will be t

This is the design for the home page of the website. In the drawing you can see the initial inclusion of the background which will feature a rail track with a rectangle over which will be a copy of the most recent edition of the magazine, therefore anyone visiting the website will see the magazine as soon as they enter and be able to view the front cover in an attempt to advertise the physical copy. Anchoring the idea of getting the physical copy is in the subheadings at the top of the page under neath the logo for the magazine as there will be hyperlinks within the words of 'Reviews', 'Features', 'Become a member' and of course 'Get the real thing' which is inviting the website's visitor to actually get the real magazine's physical copy. Just above this is the logo in full with the slogan for the magazine running throughout it, this is dominating the sky line of the home page to drill in the focus of the page to the visitor. As well as that, fea

NEA Task 16 : Masthead Design

The final masthead on display here shows the fonts which will be used going forward. The third masthead is the most appealing and on brand for the magazine I am looking to produce. The way the slogan derails in the middle and interconnects with the logo/ title is very appealing to me and is the main reason for me deciding with this font but also the mechanical font displaying 'OffTheReels' also gives off the right impression I am looking for and it is overall, the best font.
